I was able to get this one for $215, and was very happy with the price. They seem to have a decent following, and used models usually don't stick around very long. My dad has had a similar model for years, and I also have one in. I inherited my Uncles 24 with a 22 magnum over 20 gauge and I believe that the 20 gauge has the thickest barrel of any shotgun that I own. Ill list mine in a fashion that I hope others will list theirs. Overall, its a very nice gun for an early year Model 24. Those Savage 24 shotguns were built like a tank. Just for grins, Im wondering how many folks on here have one of these Savage model 24 guns, and in what series, caliber/gauges. Shouldn't be too difficult to find a replacement.

Only real issue with the gun, the buttplate was cracked off at the lower screw. Idea was to be able to carry the gun in a more compact case, now I just need to find one!īarrel markings match the rear of the stock. Seems to reason it would be the 4th month of the year, but general consensus is no one is really sure.įorend simply pops off, which allows the barrels to be removed. It is unfired and has EGW 20MOA rail attached. The "C" indicates it was manufactured in 1951, not sure what the "4" indicates. Selling my Savage 11 Long Range Hunter in 6.5CM for (dropped 700) shipped. Receiver is case colored/hardened, while most were simply blued (some were even silver finished). Later models had a selector on the hammer itself.

This one also has the full length soldered barrels, and frame mounted firing pin selector. Multiple guns okay on trade but must be in good condition: popbear, Aug 17, 2010. Savage introduced a date code in 1949 that consisted of one or two numbers and a letter in a 1/4' circle located between the trigger guard and the hinge pin. Gun is in nice condition shot very little. The Savage Model 24 was introduced under the Savage name in 1950 (previously sold under the Stevens brand 1938-1950).
